An Open Letter On Your Birthday

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

This is 30

Dear Josh,

Can you believe that we met nearly nine years ago, when you were only twenty-one?

Little did I know then that I would have the privilege of walking alongside you throughout your twenties, first as a friend, then girlfriend, then fiancé and now wife. What a privilege and adventure this last decade has been.

Your zeal and love for life far exceeds that of anyone I know.

You have the uncanny ability to make everything exciting and awesome no matter how mundane it seems at first.

People are drawn to you and your enthusiasm, kindness and flare.

You have a flame that cannot be dulled.

Through trials, you have shown perseverance, patience and resilience. While things have not always been easy for you, you have overcome obstacles that people said you could never overcome. You sure showed them.

The last ten years have shaped you into a man worthy of respect and, goodness, am I proud of you. You love loudly and unapologetically - something that we could all do a little better. You want those around you to know how special they are and how loved they are. You have made it your life’s mission to emulate the love of the Infinite. You embrace tenderly, lead courageously and are unwavering in your commitment to truth, despite how uncomfortable it can be. You are without a doubt, the most unique individual I have ever met and I get to call you - an anomaly in the best possible way - my husband, my friend, my confidant. You are my loudest cheerleader, and most trustworthy, loving critic. There would be a lot less sparkle in my life had you not walked in all those years ago.

You are worth celebrating on this special day and I hope that you know how loved you are. These last ten years have been wild, but I believe the best is still yet to come.

Happy Birthday, Josh.

All my love,

Sueann
